Kathanayagan Review by Naveen

Hero material

Kathanayagan

– Review

‘Kathanayagan’ is more of a movie which aims at entertaining the
audience and one should not expect logic.
If we go straight to the story, Thambidurai (Vishnu Vishal) falls in
love with Kanmani (Catherine Tresa) at first sight.
However, the heroine’s father (Natraj, the real life father-in-law of
Vishnu Vishal) does not approve their marriage as the hero is scared
of pretty much everything.
In the meantime, Thambidurai, who works as a revenue inspector, is
also told that he is suffering from a rare disease and decides to
donate his kidney.
What happens after this? Does their love succeed? Is Vishnu’s disease
cured? All these things form the rest of the story.
Vishnu Vishal has given what is expected of a commercial hero with his
dialogues, songs and comedies.
Catherine Tresa is used just a glam doll in songs and as the love
interest of the hero.
On the humour section, Soori (who appears as Annadurai) seems to be in
good form while Anand Raj and Mottai Rajendran have also chipped in at
places.
A small cameo by Vijay Sethupathi as a doctor has also added some
weightage to the movie. Music by Sean Roldan suits the commercial
genre well.
Director Muruganandham who had earlier done some humour roles in
‘Idharkkuthaney Aasaipattai Balakumara’ and ‘Kaashmora’ has given more
importance to the comedy portions and has fairly succeeded in it.
On the whole, ‘Kathanayagan’ is for those who want to laugh out loud
without bothering about any logic.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5
