Disha Patani replaces Shruti Haasan in ‘Sangamithra’

Months after Shruti Haasan walked out of ‘Sangamithra’ due to some ‘unavoidable reasons’, she has now been replaced by Bollywood actress Disha Patani.

The period flick, directed by Sundar C, is being planned to be made on a heavy budget. Producer Hema Rukmani, CEO of Thenandal Entertainment, tweeted on Saturday that Disha Patani would be playing Sangamitra.

Reacting to this, Disha Patani stated on Twitter that she was excited to be part of the project. The film, which is to be made as multilingual (Tamil, Telugu, Hindi etc), will have music by Oscar-Grammy winner A R Rahman.

Jayam Ravi and Arya play protagonists in the flick. Shooting is expected to commence in December. Disha’s debut film was ‘Loafer’ directed by Puri Jagannadh. In 2016, she appeared in a music video ‘Befikra’ along with Tiger Shroff.

The next film she starred in was ‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’. She also signed Jackie Chan’s ‘Kung Fu Yoga’ which was released on 3 February 2017.
