On Sunday, Superstar Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, the two top personalities of Tamil cinema, watched Vijay-starrer ‘Mersal’ at special screenings and hailed the movie.
While Rajini took to Twitter to praise the film, Kamal, it is learnt, appreciated the movie’s team including Atlee and Vijay in person, after a special screening at his office at Alwarpet in Chennai.
“Important topic addressed… Well done !!! Congratulations team #Mersal,” Rajini wrote on Twitter.
Meanwhile, even as the entire opposition came in support of the movie after it faced the wrath of the BJP for dialogues against Digital India and GST, makers of the flick came forward to remove controversial scenes.
They announced this decision in person to senior BJP leaders. In a statement, N Ramasamy of Thenandal Studios Limited said the BJP’s objection was justified from its perspective.
“The film is only about quality healthcare for ordinary citizens and not against the government,” he said.
On Saturday, leaders including Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi and DMK working president M K Stalin supported the movie and slammed the BJP.
