Close on the heels of the release of a controversial ‘Demonetisation Anthem’ by Silambarasan aka Simbu aka STR, the Greater Chennai police has provided protection at his T Nagar residence.
The security has been given fearing protests from right-wing activists, sources said, adding that eight police personnel have been giving protection.
The song, sung by STR, was launched to mark the first anniversary of demonetisation and talks about the negative aspects of the government’s decision and the trouble that the public had to undergo.
“The two notes of Gandhi have gone missing and banks and ATMS ran asku busku (empty)” are the starting lines of the song, which has gone viral.
The song takes a dig at the Goods and Services Tax, too.
“We thought it was over, but GST came!” Simbu says.
