After almost a week’s break, rains have revisited Chennai and its suburbs from Sunday night. Following this, the government has declared holiday for schools in Chennai, Kanchipuram and Thiruvallur districts.
According to weather experts, rainfall will be concentrated in the coastal districts, particularly in the stretch connecting Chennai and Nagapattinam.
Most parts of north coastal Tamil Nadu and some parts of south coastal Tamil Nadu would be getting rainfall. It is also predicted that there would be isolated rainfall in the interior districts of the state.
An IMD bulletin said a fresh low pressure area is likely to form over southeast Bay of Bengal around Tuesday, which would bring more rains.
Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu government has asked people not to worry as it has taken all necessary precautionary measures. “Officials are on high alert,” said revenue minister R B Udhayakumar.
