Annadurai – Review by Naveen

Two to tango

Annadurai

– Review

Vijay Antony’s rise did not happen overnight. It was slow, and at the same time, it was steady too. First he was a music composer. Then he made his debut as actor and producer with ‘Naan’.
After delivering hits as ‘hero’ in ‘Salim’, ‘Pichaikaran’ and ‘Saithan’, the music composer-actor-producer has now donned the role of editor, one of the toughest tasks, in ‘Annadurai’.
Directed by G Srinivasan, the film speaks about the lives of twin brothers- Annadurai and Thambidurai- both played by Vijay Antony himself. Let’s first find out what’s the story is.
Annadurai, a noble-hearted, becomes alcoholic following the death of his lover. Thambidurai is a physical education teacher in a school. Annadurai, under the influence of circumstances and alcohol, commits a crime and ends up in jail.
As he comes out of prison after seven years, he is shocked to see that his brother is now a right-handed man of a don in the locality.
Also, his family too lies shattered. Now it is the turn of Annadurai to set things right- teach a fitting lesson to his foes and to mend the life of his brother.
Vijay Antony gives his best to both characters. As editor too, he has scored good marks. There are three leading ladies- Mahima, Diana Champika and Jewel Mary. Radharavi and Kali Venkat are also there.
The film is good technically too, but the director could have focussed more on the script, especially in the second half. But still, ‘Annadurai’ entertains us with mass moments and family emotions.

Rating:3.0 out of 5
