Thiruttu Payale 2

– Review

A decade ago, when ‘Thiruttu Payale’ hit the screens, the film was talked about for its shock factor, as it was about a cheating wife, a cunning friend, a fraud youngster and a ruthless rich man.
Now, its sequel ‘Thiruttu Payale 2’ has arrived from the same filmmaker, Susi Ganesan. This one gives more shocks than the first part, as it is about the present generation, which is glued to the social media.
Selvam (Bobby Simha) is a policeman. Though he starts his career as a honest cop, situations make him corrupt. His wife is Agalvilakku (Amala Paul), who is a homemaker.
Selvam, who works in the intelligence department, is asked by his boss to tap the phone calls of influential persons such as politicians and top officials.
However, he has other plans and starts making money by misusing his power. But the shock of his life awaits Selvam when he listens the phone conversations of his wife.
For, Agalvilakku (Amala Paul) is in relationship with cyber criminal Balki (Prasanna), who is her Facebook friend turned close confidant. She is now in a trap.
The rest is all about how Selvam handles things and the cat and mouse game that happens between Selvam and Balki.
Prasanna is terrific in his performance, while Bobby Simha fits the bill well. Amala Paul is the main attraction of the movie with her looks and body language.
Vidyasagar’s music and cinematography by P Chelladurai by make things more interesting. But the second half is not well-written when compared to the first half, especially the climax.
But still, ‘Thiruttu Payale’ is a racy erotic thriller which also conveys a message or two. Susi Ganesan should be lauded for doing intense research in the subject.
