Urging the government to take steps for the safety of women, Makkal Needi Maiam founder-president Kamal Haasan has alleged that the law and order in Tamil Nadu is deteriorating.
Speaking to reporters in Erode after paying tributes at the residence of rationalist leader ‘Periyar’ E V Ramasamy, the actor-turned-politician expressed worry over the two recent incidents, when women were killed in Trichy and Chennai.
“The way women are treated here currently is shameful and they are facing lot of threats and problems on the roads. The government should take steps to provide safety to women,” he said.
He also hit out at the Goods and Services Tax (GST) bill and demonetisation moves of the central government and supported the views of Congress president Rahul Gandhi.
On allegations taht he was associated with Christain missionaries, hesaid, “They say I am funded by Christian missionaries. I can only laugh about it as it is not even a sensible argument”.
