6 months, 5 films – Friday Spl. Article by Naveen
In the next six months, five much awaited movies are gearing up to hit the screens. They feature top stars- Ajith, Vijay, Vikram, Suriya and Sivakarthikeyan- in lead roles and have generated huge expectations among the masses already.
All these five flicks have the capacity to witness full house crowds, at least in the opening weekend, and keep the cash registers ringing. “Since Rajini’s ‘2.0’, Kamal Haasan’s ‘Sabaash Naidu’ and ‘Baahubali 2’ too are in the pipeline, Tamil cinema is in for healthy days,” say trade sources.
While keeping ‘2.0;, ‘Sabaash Naidu’ and ‘Baahubali’ for another Friday, let us see the other five big films this week.
The landmark 60th movie of Vijay is being directed by Bharathan, who made ‘Azhagia Tamil Magan’ with the same actor earlier. The film is being bankrolled by the reputed Vijaya Productions.
Tipped to be a commercial entertainer with a ‘message to the society’, the yet untitled film features Vijay in a dual role. Keerthy Suresh is the heroine, while music is by Santhosh Narayanan.
Fondly called as ‘Thala-57’ by the fans of Ajith, the film is being helmed by Siva. Ajith and Siva proved themselves as success combination with films like ‘Veeram’ and ‘Vedalam’.
Ajith is said to be playing an Interpol officer in this yet-to-be-titled film, which has Kajal Aggarwal as the lead lady. Talking about the movie recently, its producer T G Thiyagarajan of Sathyajothi Films said, “Ajith will be seen as an interpol officer and while investigating a murder case in Tamil Nadu, clues lead him to several parts of the world including Europe.”
Thyagarajan further said that in order to get his look right for the interpol officer role, Ajith, who underwent surgery recently, spent six hours a day in gym for months together.
Known for taking immense pains film after film, Vikram is at it again in ‘Irumugan’. The movie directed by young filmmaker Anand Shankar of ‘Arima Nambi’ fame features the actor as an undercover police officer and a transgender baddie, whose name is ‘Love’.
There are two heroines- Nayanthara and Nithya Menen. Produced by Shibu Thameens, ‘Irumugan’ has music by Harris Jayaraj. Remember Vikam and Harris had given us musical hits like ‘Saami’, ‘Bheema’ and ‘Anniyan’ etc.
Cashing in on the success of ‘Singam’ and ‘Singam 2’, actor Suriya and director Hari have joined forces for ‘S3’, the third installment to the ‘Singam’ series.
Suriya will once again be seen as Duraisingam, the no nonsense cop who single-handedly takes on anti-socials. Anushka and Shruti Haasan are the heroines. Music is by Harris Jayaraj.
Sivakarthikeyan, whose rise to stardowm is a fairytale story, is trying his hands at a different plot in ‘Remo’, tipped to be a rom-com.
He plays a nurse in the movie directed by debutant Bakkiyaraj Kannan and produced by Raja of 24 AM Studios. Keerthy Suresh is the heroine, while music is by Anirudh.
