With just over a day left for the release of ‘Iru Mugan’, the buzz around the film has reached a feverish pitch. Now, its director Anand Shankar has spilled the beans on the character of ‘Love’, played by Vikram in the film.
“Contrary to public opinion, Love is not a transgender, nor is he playing a cross-dresser. It is a unique character, who will change himself according to the situation he is in. Vikram’s performance will be a treat to the audience”, he said.
The director also clarified that they have taken all measures to ensure nobody from the third gender community is offended. It may be noted that the ‘Saamy’ star’s earlier film ‘I’ ran into controversies, after a group of transgenders protested the portrayal of a character in the Shankar-directorial.
‘Iru Mugan’ that is tipped to be a sci-fi thriller, has Nayantara and Nithya Menen in the lead roles.
