Tirupur Mani, producer of Silk’s first film, dies
Veteran producer Tirupur Mani, who introduced Silk Smitha in ‘Vandichakkaram’, passed away in Chennai today.
According to sources, the 76-year-old was suffering from some ailments and his end came this morning. His body has been kept at his Dr Nair Road residence at T Nagar.
He is survived by wife and two sons. Many prominent personalities of Tamil cinema, including Sathyaraj, have paid tributes to the mortal remains of Mani, which will be cremated on Sunday.
A busy producer in the 1980s, Mani had bankrolled movies like ‘Chinna Thambi Periya Thambi’, ‘Rosapoo Ravikaikari’, ‘Eetti Imaigal’, ‘Aaniver’ and ‘Aayiram Muthangal’.
