In a huge honour for Tamil cinema, ‘Visaranai’ has been selected as India’s official entry to this year’s Oscar awards. The film beat other movies like ‘Sairat’, ‘Thithi’, ‘Neerja’, ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ to get the prestigious entry.
Directed by Vetrimaran, the film revolved around the novel ‘Lock Up’ by auto-rickshaw driver-turned-writer M Chandrakumar, and starred actors Dinesh and Samuthirakanni in the lead roles,
The film’s producer actor Dhanush expressed his happiness on the selection, and released an official statement,
He said, “Good evening everybody. This is just turning out to be a glorious day. After the super positive initial reports for ‘Thodari’ now ‘Visaranai’ has been selected as the official entry to Oscars from India. Proud moment for Wunderbar Films and Vetrimaaran. Dream big”.
