Popular film lyricist N Annamalai passed away on Tuesday.
Sources say, the 49-year-old suffered a cardiac arrest, which turned out to be fatal.
“He had complained of chest pain and was taken to hospital. But he subsequently breathed his last”, said sources.
Annamalai has written many a hit number in the past, including songs in ‘Uthamaputhiran’, ‘Velayudham’, ‘Naan’, ‘Aranmanai’, ‘Haridas’ and more.
It may be noted that this is the third celebrity death in less than two months for Kollywood.
The month of August saw award-winning lyricist Na Muthukumar meeting his end due to a severe case of jaundice.
Earlier veteran writer and producer Panchu Arunachalam had succumbed to age-related ailments, while yesteryear actress Jyothi Lakshmi too lost her battle with blood cancer.
